Pastor Washington has been in pastorial ministry for 43 years; having been the pastor of churches in Alabama and California before coming to Dayton, Ohio. Every church he has led has seen significant growth. This is primarily a result of his commitment to Biblical preaching.

Born in Redding, California, Pastor James E. Washington grew up in a small church from where he was called to preach in 1978 at the age of 16. After completing high school, he graduated from Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama. He returned to California to attend Talbot School of Theology and graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Master of Divinity in Biblical Exposition and Systematic Theology in 1992.  In July of 1994 he became the pastor of Phillips Temple Church in Trotwood, Ohio.  In 1999 84 acres was purchased for Church Expansion.  In 2004 a 6 million dollar project was completed.  

Pastor Jimmy is married to Michele for 37 years.  They have two daughters, Alexis and Faith and one grandaughter Riley.
